So there's been a lot of talking about me going down to Triple-A and everyone wondering what the future holds for me. Well I am about to tell you what it holds, three days off and a killer weekend! That's what it holds! Don't get me wrong, I love the Brewers. I love playing in Milwaukee and the fans are really great. I love all the number 7's I see in the crowd, but it's like we gotta do this thing every single day of the week? Really? 162 games? Isn't that a bit excessive? I need some me-time. I need to enjoy the summer. I haven't even seen one episode of the new season of Entourage. I need my Drama-time! Man, I love that show. I tried to get the team to "hug it out, bitch" after wins, but they went with that untucking thing instead. Whatever. Read the rest of this entry »
Man, it must suck to be an Astros fan. Right now they are probably like "Oh man this series is huge! We're only 5 out in the Central and after we sweep this series we'll be right back in the thing!" and then high five their buddy and go drink some sarsaparilla. Whatever the hell that is. Then he goes out to his grandma's house because she can't figure out why the antenna on her tee-vee doesn't work.
Oh, who am I kidding? There are no Astros fans. The only people at the game tonight are going to be former Presidents and Mexicans who traveled across the border to see Yovani. And oil men.
I feel pretty good about this series. Beating the best team in the league will do that for you. The Astros are not that good. We are good. Maybe Prince losing his shit was the thing that this team needed to wake up from their slumber. If that's the case I am happy he did it. Even if it doesn't get Anthony Witrado fired.
Speaking of A-Dub, it should be noted that as of this writing 51 people liked my article about him being fired. We've never had over 40 people "like" anything before that. If that doesn't tell you that the guy needs to go, I don't know what does.
Anyways, I'm off for the weekend. Hopefully this rain stops soon and we can start drinking outside like normal people. Twitter. Facebook. You know the drill and Carl Pavano, if you are reading this. We didn't want you anyways. Jerk.
John Hughes died. This affected me because I am about that age that this sort of thing would matter to me. Considering most of the Brewers are around my age or younger (a fact that depresses me to no end) I figure this has probably affected them too. After the jump it's a mishmash of Brewer reactions to John Hughes' death in one of the most unorganized posts in Miller Park Drunk history. I think you guys will like it. I mean, I consider you guys my friends. I'm not wrong am I? Read the rest of this entry »
Baseball August 6th, 2009
I've been watching baseball my entire life and if there is one thing I've learned it's that you have to hate at least one person on your favorite team at all times. It's impossible to love 25 guys at the same time. You have to dislike a few. All season long Jason Kendall and Jeff Suppan have been neck and neck for the title of punching bag, but with Suppan's injury and Kendall's recent slump it seems that Kendall has taken the crown once and for all. And I couldn't be happier.
With Suppan it's always more about expectations and money than it is about performance. He is not good, I am not saying that he is. It's just that he is a 4th starter and he is expected to be a fourth starter, he just happens to be paid exorbirantly well for a fourth starter. It's not his fault that he took the money, who wouldn't? He is what he is.
With Kendall it's different. He's a catcher and catcher's aren't supposed to hit, but he is so bad at hitting that it's become a joke. The story goes that he overcomes his hitting by his value in handling the pitchers. The pitchers like throwing to him. Let's just go ahead and debunk that REAL QUICK. Read the rest of this entry »
