There is a lot of talk about Doug Melvin these days. Whether it's his bobblehead day, the Fire Doug Melvin blog or Mark A's recent comments about him. Everyone has an opinion on Doug Melvin, he is a hot item right now. Whether or not he is to blame for what happened this season is up for discussion (I say no), but he is our GM and he's pretty good at what he does. He's important to this team's future. Now I've been watching TV all of my life and I know there is only one true way to honor those who are important to you and that's with a roast.
So join a calvacade of stars as they roast Brewers General Manager Doug Melvin live from the Pabst Theater(!) after the jump. Continue reading »
Despite the silliness of some fans, the game itself was pretty good. It would have been nice if my favorite players did a bit better (Cameron, Gamel and Escobar went a combined 1 for 10), but Cam did have the first RBI and do one of the most awesome things I have ever seen (more on this later).
The game was cruising along in the fourth when the Brewers managed to load the bases. That was the good news. The bad news was that there was two outs and Jody Gerut was at the plate. At 2-2 I was biting my nails a bit, but then something happened that hadn't even crossed my mind as a possibility. He hit a grand slam... RIGHT TO ME! Continue reading »
The thing that I love most about Brewers fans is their ability to travel. The Brewers can't go on a road trip without someone from Wisconsin taking their vacation around wanting to see them play. While other teams may have larger fan bases, the Brewers fans are as loyal as anyone. They're like really good stalkers. I like to travel with the team myself, but I prefer to spend my money on multiple games spread across the season as opposed to spending a lot on a single series. Another thing I love? Drinking. That's why I try to take the trip down to Wrigley for at least one game a year. I'm still traveling with the team, it doesn't affect my Brewer game budget and I can drink heavily. About a month ago I picked Thursday's 1:20 game as the perfect opportunity to make my annual trip and got four bleacher tickets because I wanted sun. My crew for this day was my buddy Oscar (Brewers fan) and two other buddies (Cubs fans). We all had the simplest of instructions, prepare to get legendary.
Apparently some of you didn't like the whole selling out thing and honestly, we're sorry to hear that. I thought he did some interesting stuff even if he was a douchebag. (By the way, did you catch my review of Wrigleyworld? It may have been lost amongst the idiocy, but I am rather proud of it.) However, you should all be happy to know that I have returned the Playboy with Sable on the cover along with the fifty bucks and we won't be seeing Chad around here for a long, long time.
