Cincinnati Reds season preview

The season is just around the corner and the Milwaukee Brewers are currently one of the favorites in the NL Central, but that doesn't mean it's a sure thing. There are still five other teams that want the title who will be fighting for it all season. Do they have a shot? That's what we're going to find out as we work with fans from other teams to figure out how everything is going to play out and exactly what it is we're dealing with. That's right it's the 2011 NL Central Previews!

Today's Guest: A very angry Brewers fan

(What? Do YOU know any Reds fans? Didn't think so.)

Do you know what I did today? I took off work. That jerk Bob from my department already requested off for Monday and the office couldn't do without the both of us so I am stuck working on Opening Day. I know for a fact that guy thinks Prince Fielder's name is Cecil, but what are you going do? Sometimes you hit the bar and sometimes the bar hits you. So anyways, I can't go to the home opener next week so instead I decided to take off to watch a game on TV. My wife doesn't like it because she wants to watch her soaps and the Price is Right and 17 reruns of Jersey Shore on VH1 so I end up down in the basement watching the show on a 16" screen. It's the TV we got when my wife's mom died, but it'll do. I have a few beers (that I have to open underneath a blanket so my wife doesn't hear the tops popping) and it's baseball. I'm all set up for a great day.

The game starts and it's a celebration. Homeruns are hit, Yovanni looks good and the Brewers look like it's 1982 all over again. I'm finishing beers and hiding them underneath the stairs (note to self: empty those out), everything is going great and then the 9th inning starts. Continue reading →

St Louis Cardinals season preview

Today's Guest: A guy who really likes Budweiser

How good are the Cardinals going to be this year? Awesome because the Cardinals are clearly the Budweiser of the NL Central. The Brewers and the Reds are like Miller Lite and Coors Light, decent but far inferior to Budweiser, the Cubs are as bad as the Old Style they serve at the park and the Astros and Pirates are like Steel Reserve and Natural Ice or something, no way you would ever choose them over an ice cold Bud.

Think about it, Albert Pujols is the best hitter in baseball right now. He is hands down the Budweiser of Major League Baseball. Continue reading →

Today's Guest: A Houston Texans cheerleader

Hi y'all I'm Dixie and I'm a cheerleader for the Houston Texans. I've also done a bit of modelin' for Hawaiian Tropic and appeared in three Texas-wide commercials (you may remember me as the hot waitress at Big Billy's BBQ Fire Pit, the sassy bartender at Monster Mike's Steak City or playin' myself in an ad for Texas Mattress World ("So soft you'll strap the mattress to your back!"), but I am not here to talk about that right now. I want to talk about my other love, Houston Astros baseball. Continue reading →

Your 2011 Awesomely Bad Milwaukee Brewers jokes

Who doesn't like a good pun? More importantly, who doesn't love a bad pun?

Baseball can be kind of a boring game in between all the really exciting things that happen. There is a lot of time for conversation and with conversation comes jokes. Good jokes, dirty jokes and most of all bad jokes will be strewn across Miller Park this year more than Miller Lites. You will hear a lot of jokes at the park this year, but almost none of them will be good. You have to learn to expect them so that you aren't caught off guard by them. You need to be prepared for the polite laugh you are sure to give the co-worker you don't really like that much or the lonely uncle who offered to buy your ticket. Luckily for you, we have the inside track on the hottest bad jokes for 2011. We can see them coming before the bad joke teller can and we're going to share them with you right here. Preparation is the key to success. Or something. Continue reading →

Opening Day? [ad]

Are you a sucker like me who missed out on Opening Day tickets and now find yourself forced to buy tickets off of the secondary market? Doesn't it suck? I mean, most of the people at the game aren't even going for their love of the Brewers. They're going to drink. Most of them won't even make it in for the first inning. Hell, I know some people are going just because they heard the Packers are going to be there. What the hell is that all about? In many ways Opening Day is a lot like New Year's Eve aka amateur night. People like us go to bars year round, but all the people who don't come out on New Year's Eve and act like idiots. WOOOO! The calendar year has changed by one! We are all one step closer to death! YAY! Who gives a crap? Act like an adult. (Says the guy who did a keg stand in his boxers.) Still, Opening Day holds a certain allure and I don't want to miss it. It's a fun time when the Brewers play their first game at home and I've been for the past few years. I want to go again.

So, the secondary market it is. For pretty much every game for the rest of the season I can end up going to the game for less than face value, but for this one I have to pay over market value for tickets. What to do? Continue reading →
