CC Sabathia, The Brewers and You

The Brewers lost their second game in a row to the New York Yankees tonight and are facing a sweep tomorrow afternoon at Yankee Stadium. We knew this series would be tough, but we didn't think they were going to be swept. At least we hoped not. Of course the Brewers can avoid that tomorrow by winning, but it won't be easy. The Brewers send Randy Wolf to the mound and while he's been very good this season I can't imagine the Yankees aren't licking their lips like Mo Vaughn at an all-you-can-eat wing buffet in anticipation of facing him. To make matters worse the Yankees are sending their ace to the mound, CC Sabathia. Yes, that CC Sabathia.

I should preface what I am about to write by noting that I really like CC Sabathia. I've always been a fan of his. He's like Doc Gooden and Willie "Da Bomb" Richardson wrapped together in a tortilla, topped with cheese and buffalo sauce, sprinkled with Jesus. In other words, he's awesome. (Coincidentally, that's what CC Sabathia had for dinner tonight.) He defies everything we think we know about pitch counts and healthy playing weights. I could see him pitching forever and breaking all of Cy Young's records along the way. He's the only Yankee I've ever liked. I love CC Sabathia.

Despite all of that, I want the Brewers to destroy him. I want them to hit ten homeruns in the first inning and ruin his ERA. I want the cover of New York dailies to read "IS CC DONE?" and "Sa-BAD-ia". I want the press to be like "What happened CC?" and for CC to be like "I don't know. That team is amazing. I can't beat them." I want the Brewers to win and CC to lose in the most humiliating fashion of all time. I want it so bad. Continue reading →

More Brewers please

Hey, look the Brewers made number one on The Juice! What did they say!?

Was this the weekend when the Milwaukee Brewers made their big move in the NL Central? Time will tell, but a sweep-sealing 6-2 victory over the Minnesota Twins on Sunday put winning pitcher Chris Narveson right) and the Crew in command of a division race that has been neck and neck for most of the year.

Combined with the St. Louis Cardinals getting swept by the Toronto Blue Jays, the domination at Miller Park gave the Brewers a three-game lead in the Central and some more hope that they can win the team's first division title since 1982.

YEAH!

The Brewers just put together a complete three game series. The pitchers pitched, the hitters hit and even Yuniesky Betancourt joined in on the fun. It's a weird feeling today, the Brewers have an off day and it's the most disappointing thing to happen all week. I don't want them to have an off day. I want to see them win some more. I want to see Yuni hit some more. I want to see how far Braun and Prince doing their thing can go. I'm ready for Casey McGehee's redemption and for the ongoing one-upping between the starters to continue. For the first time in a long time I just want more. More Brewers please. Continue reading →

Childish Gambino lyrics on Rickie Weeks (adult language)

When we wrote that post about how we wanted to say things to the Brewers while they were still in first place we had this to say to Rickie Weeks:

You play chicken with a mack truck

This, if you didn't know, was a reference to the Kanye West and Jay-Z song "H. A. M." When I think of HAM I think of Rickie Weeks. He is synonymous with it. He is the baddest player on the Brewers and probably the baddest in all of MLB. Rickie Weeks is H. A. M.

So then I thought I should just post a bunch of pictures of Rickie Weeks with the lyrics to that song on them (like the picture above), but then I realized I didn't really like that song that much and that every single lyrics seems to have the n-word in it. Then I thought since I'm basically stealing the idea from the awesome Hipster Childish Gambino that I might as well just do Childish Gambino lyrics since they are so much better and there are so many awesome ones to choose from. So there you have it, Childish Gambino lyrics on Rickie Weeks pictures. Let's do this. Continue reading →

Your First Place Milwaukee Brewers

FIRST PLACE. SERIOUSLY.

The Brewers haven't been playing that good lately and it's hard to get excited about the team. Maybe the games on TV don't feel as "can't miss" as they used to, maybe you aren't in as big of a rush to leave the parking lot as you normally are or maybe you don't update your popular blog as much as you normally do. Try and remember, there are good things going on with this team even if they aren't winning.

- MPD 6/26/09 (Silver Lining: Casey McGehee)

The last time the Brewers were 1o games over .500 was 6/23/09. This site was still new and we spent most of our time talking about pitchers the Brewers should acquire. (Cliff Lee was my personal favorite.) At the time we had no way of knowing how far the team would tumble or how long it would take them to be that good again. We tried to stay positive and thought it was a cold streak that would soon be over. We ended up thinking that for two years. Continue reading →
