10 Worst Milwaukee Brewers of 2010

Lost in the shuffle of how awesome 2011 is going to be with the additions of Zack Greinke and Shaun Marcum, was how truly awful 2010 was. Despite our optimism, this team was eliminated by May and had most fans clamoring for a fire sale at the trade deadline. A lot of the reasons for the team's lack of success were stupid ("Ryan Braun is spending too much time on his restaurants and clothing line!"), some of them had basis in reality ("Coffey is eating too much!"), and some of them were just about Ken Macha sucking, but I don't think anyone can deny how much these ten people screwed up the Brewers' 2010 season.

That's right, it's end-of-the-year list time, and instead of looking back on our favorite moments (of which there are two, trading for Shaun Marcum and trading for Zack Greinke), we want to look back on the ten people who screwed the Brewers in 2010 harder than any of the guys your mom brought home. Luckily for us, just like your mom's "night visitors," most of these guys won't be back either.

10. Gregg Zaun

Remember when Gregg Zaun sucked in spring training? Or when he started the season 0 for 60 or whatever? That was annoying, but wasn't exactly the end of the world. He rebounded nicely, raising his OPS all the way to .743, a highly respectable number for a 39 year old catcher. That, combined with his awesome Rush at-bat music, made Gregg Zaun a fan favorite around these parts (we even celebrated his first homerun), but then he had to go and ruin it all by getting a season ending injury. Jonathan Lucroy did a fine job filling in for him, but he definitely could have used one more year of seasoning, and if it wasn't for Gregg Zaun, that might have happened. Thanks a lot, dick.

9. Jeff Suppan

Jeff Suppan had no business being a Brewer in 2010. We knew he sucked, the Brewers knew he sucked, even he knew he sucked. Nobody wanted him here, but the brass insisted on giving him that one last shot. It worked out exactly how we thought it would.

Everybody hated Suppan. Everybody. The end of his Brewer career was a great moment for all of us that is still remembered fondly to this day. The best part of his release? It came soon enough that it didn't ruin our season.

Still, it wasn't soon enough.

8. Doug Davis

Like Jeff Suppan, Doug Davis didn't really make enough starts to hurt the Brewers, but at the same time, he didn't do anything to help them either. The Brewers signed Doug Davis to a 1-year, $4.5 million dollar contract to essentially be their fourth or fifth starter, and he made a whopping eight starts before checking out for the year with a 7.51 ERA. We knew it wasn't the best signing, but we thought he'd be serviceable. He wasn't.

Disappointing? Of course. Bad? You betcha. Crappy facial hair? Naturally.

I liked him better when he had cancer.

Vince Morales is the guy who runs this site. He likes the Milwaukee Brewers, pro wrestling and beer. If he offended you he is very, very sorry.

You’re a moron. #5 Bush – If you put that much importance on Wins for pitchers, remember when Dave Bush WON the only playoff game in the past 25 years?

Dissing Hoffman is one of the lowest moves ever. He ruined the Brewers season? Really?! Gimme a break, you’re a hack.

    Bozo.

You are a douche. And all your negativity is contributing to the negative pessimistic world we live in, especially internet media. Although you are far from media quality. You honestly have no expertise and no experience performing at this high a level. Someone who looks at numbers and assumes they can see all with that alone is lost. Leave the judging for someone with better knowledge. You sound like an idiot.

My initial reaction was that Suppan had to be the worst, but I think your list is totally right. All those guys were awful. Suppan was just irritating off the field too, so that’s probably why I’d put him at #1. Just his face alone looked like a stripper’s crotch.

    You are my Zen Master!
    1st spring game is February 28th! I love 2011.
I’m getting a 20 pack! I have front row seats in the club section so I can take my fat self out of the heat and do shots of Tequila in air conditioned comfort and then stumble back to my seat. I got my “You got Wood, We got Greinke, We Win” T-shirt. I am SO HAPPY!
