Go Steelers?

The Green Bay Packers are going to the Super Bowl!!!

This is an exciting time for everyone in Wisconsin with even a passing interest in football and the next two weeks are going to be all football, all the time. The team that has dominated the Wisconsin sports landscape for the past 100 years will now attempt to take full control of our minds and souls with a win in the Super Bowl. A trip to the Super Bowl is huge, but what does it mean to us? What does it mean to you? What does it mean to the Brewers?

Wow, did you guys hear the Packers are going to the World Series? This is awesome!
Yeah! I'm a Chiefs fan, but even I'm getting caught up in this Packer fever.
Yeah. Great.
/shakes head
What gives? You guys don't seem that excited about all this.
You guys wouldn't understand.
Wouldn't understand? You must not know about my breakout season, 2007, as I took 12 wins for the 83-79 Toronto Blue Jays. We finished a mere 12 games behind the Red Sox for the Wild Card. Let me tell you guys, you haven't ever experienced playoff excitement quite like this. 2,000 people at every game. Craziness.
Meanwhile, the Toronto Argonauts were having a great season winning the CFL Eastern division and making a trip to the Grey Cup Playoffs. Two teams in one city, kicking ass and taking names.
/stares blankly at Shaun Marcum
What the f*#% is a motherf*#%ing Argonaut?
You know, the CFL, Canadian Football League.
The what what now?
Maybe you should stop talking for awhile Shaun.
Green Bay Packers. Number one.
/shakes head

/mutters swear words

What? Why do you keep doing that?
Seriously? Prince, do you hate them too?
Yeah. I hate them too. It's been rough.
Does everyone hate them?
Yeah, bro. We can't stand them.
Why? In Toronto we loved the Argonauts!
Can someone shut this guy up?
Seriously Shaun.

He's got a point though. In Kansas City we got along great with the Chiefs. They were the only ones who understood how bad we were.

It's not like that here. Things are different here.
2008. Milwaukee was alive with baseball fever. We made the playoffs on the last game of the season for the first time in 26 years. Our first home playoff game sold out in seconds and tickets were going for three or four times face value on the open market. The Brewers owned this city. It was sick bro.
That sounds awesome.
It was. We had this rally at the State Fair grounds and all these people showed up just to cheer for us. There were thousands of them. They even cheered for Eric Gagne. It was the best day of his life.
Our first game was amazing. The fans were on their feet for every pitch, cheering like crazy. 26 years in the making. Sometimes I watch this video and cry.
Remember when we won? The first time this city had seen playoff baseball in 26 years and we won. It was amazing.

God, I can't even watch that.
It's like a fairytale!
It was exactly like a fairytale. We were down two games to one, but we thought we could do anything. We thought we were going to win the World Series. With those fans behind us we believed in ourselves. Even if Jeff Suppan was pitching.
I don't get it. What's so bad about that? It sounds amazing. What's the big deal?
All that we worked for, all that we dreamed of, it all went down the drain.
We played around noon and so did the Packers. The game was a sellout, but only 200 people showed up and they spent the whole game in Fridays watching the TV. The Packers ratings more than doubled ours. Our season ended and no one even noticed.
The Packers, by the way, finished that season 6-10 and missed the playoffs.
So, you're telling me when the Brewers made the playoffs and the Packers sucked people still watched the Packers instead of the Brewers?
Exactly. Just imagine what will happen to us next season if they win the Super Bowl. Their preseason games will outdraw us. We could be in Game 7 of the World Series and it'd still lose out to a Lions game.
So..... Go Steelers?
Go Steelers!
But what are we gonna do about the Admirals?

Vince Morales is the guy who runs this site. He likes the Milwaukee Brewers, pro wrestling and beer. If he offended you he is very, very sorry.

That’s bullshit the way more people watched the Packers that Sunday. No one I knew was doing that. Even if the Packers win the Super Bowl, I would definitely watch a Brewer playoff game over a regular season Packer game.(while checking the score during commercials of course) Much like I would watch a Bucks playoff game over a Brewers regular season game. Prioritize, god damn it.

True story: I was at a bar that had the Packers regular season game on 6-8 TVs and the Brewers on one.

Sooooo root against the Packers because they’re more popular? No. Fuck that shit. Fuck Ben Rapelisberger and James “I can only tackle with my head” Harrison. Go Packers AND Go Brew Crew.

Who is this Anonymous? He speaks the truth with such wisdon. Prioritize? What is this of which you speak? I understand his words – Fuck That SHIT! Fuck that and the horse it rode in on. I will root for the Packers – but I will not blow money on super bowl tickets, no – I will blow my money on more brewer tickets and a trip to Arizona. For it is in Beer and Baseball and warm weather and hot chicks sweating through their tank tops that true nervana is achieved.

Don’t root against the Packers, obviously. But If the Brewers are playing a playoff game at the same time the Packers are playing week 4 or some bullshit, watch the Brewers.

You may want to correct the comment about the pep rally – it was at Summerfest, not State Fair.
