The season is just around the corner and the Milwaukee Brewers are currently one of the favorites in the NL Central, but that doesn't mean it's a sure thing. There are still five other teams that want the title who will be fighting for it all season. Do they have a shot? That's what we're going to find out as we work with fans from other teams to figure out how everything is going to play out and exactly what it is we're dealing with. That's right it's the 2011 NL Central Previews!
Today's Guest: A guy who really likes Budweiser
How good are the Cardinals going to be this year? Awesome because the Cardinals are clearly the Budweiser of the NL Central. The Brewers and the Reds are like Miller Lite and Coors Light, decent but far inferior to Budweiser, the Cubs are as bad as the Old Style they serve at the park and the Astros and Pirates are like Steel Reserve and Natural Ice or something, no way you would ever choose them over an ice cold Bud.
Think about it, Albert Pujols is the best hitter in baseball right now. He is hands down the Budweiser of Major League Baseball. A lot of people are asking if the Cardinals should pay Big Al his asking price, but to me it's a no brainer. When I go to the store and Miller Genuine Draft is on sale for $10.99 a case and Budweiser is $18.99 for a case I always get the Budweiser. There is just no replacing something of that quality. Sure, you might get almost the same quality from someone else but they won't be Albert "The Genuine Article" Pujols. Let's face it they don't call it the King of Beers for nothing.
On the other side of the field I was sad to see Adam Wainwright go out for the season. I drank many Budweisers that night mourning the loss of his season, but I think we will be okay. If Chris Carpenter and Adam Wainwright were the Budweisers of this pitching staff then Jaime Garcia and Jake "WASSUP!?" Westbrook are at least a pair of Bud Lights and those are always good to have around. Lohse and McClellan are like a sixer of Bud Light Lime on a hot summer day. They're no Budweiser, but they'll do in a pinch and chicks love them. I think we'll be just fine. Especially now that we got rid of Jeff Suppan. That guy is the Zima of Major League Baseball.
For the 2011 season I give this Cardinals team four and a half out of a six pack. Good enough to win the NL Central, but without the body and flavor of some of the classic Cardinal teams of years past. 86 wins. This Buds for you.
