It is very hard to be a Brewers fan right now. JJ's defensive numbers are better than last year - fielding percentage up, errors down, RF factor the same. As far as batting average, if he had gotten 20 more hits in his 379 at bats, it would have been the same as last year. 20 hits is not insignificant, but I don't think it warrants demotion to AAA and loss of a year of free agency. If the Brewer's wanted Escobar in and JJ out, they should have just said so. The games are childish.

I am a Mariners fan and for a long time this year I was hoping that we would trade for J.J. I can say one thing if our team did this to one of there players who has played well in the past and as you point out still a valuable major leaguer I would be very dissapointed in them. I don't know how you can stand up for your team by essentially screwing a guy over just because he makes more money than you. He deserves the same chance that all other players get. It would be like your company telling you your not getting a raise for another year while all the other companies in your business are giving out raises now. How would you feel if that happened to you.

I don't think JJ's the kind of guy who wants you to feel sorry for him. But he did get jerked around. And it will probably come back to hurt the Brewers more than it hurt JJ. Would you want to sign with a team that might mess with you too?
