Miller Park Drunk Grill Walk 2009

Once a website or a person gets a certain amount of success and influence in the world, they tend to want to give back to the community (unless they're a real asshole). You see this all over the place. Actors, musicians, bloggers, all doing stuff for free and the proceeds going to a worthy cause. I think that I've reached the point in my career where it's my turn to give back to the community, but what should I give back to? Cancer? Been done. AIDs? Done. Homelessness? No thanks.

You see when I give back, I want it to be something that really matters to me. Something near and dear to my heart. Something like... tailgating, but how do I give back to tailgating? Well, let's have my dear friend from Wisconsin Sports Tap explain. Continue reading →

FROM THE OUTBOX

Some people love our site. Some people hate it. Some take offense to things that are written here and send me four emails over the weekend. The gist of it?

Please kindling remove the posting of the expunged image and kindly take down my communication from your posting, my communication was not posted on the comment board and was sent directly to your e-mail address only.
So, I posted something that maybe I shouldn't have and have since taken a portion of it down. I don't want to get sued (though I am fairly certain I couldn't be) and more than that, I don't want people bothering me. The only reason I post this now is because of something in that same (of four) email which read:
Could you please provide contact imformation as to how I can send you the expunged documents from the WI Dept Of Justice.?
Now, I don't know about anyone else but whenever you have someone formerly accused of a crime asking for information like this it makes you stop for a moment. I mean if someone formerly accused as a child molester asked you where your kid went to school, you'd freak out right? Exactly. So I'm not crazy when I send this email, right?
I have removed your name and image from the posting. Beyond that I see no reason for me to change anything on my website and I am only doing this so that you will stop contacting me. I do not care to see copies of your expunged documents and the fact that you want my contact information worries me based on your history. Please do not contact me any further.
I don't think so.

Good reasons to go home

Hot Brewers fan licks the paperLast week I wrote an article about people leaving Brewers games early and how there isn't really a good excuse for it. Apparently some of you took this as a challenge to prove me wrong and sent me almost 10,000 emails on the subject. Which is weird because we only have like 15 readers. Anyways, some of you made good points and some of you made bad points. I will attempt to respond to your emails here in hopes that the emailing will stop.

My wifes water broke at a game and I had to rush her to the hospital in the 5th inning. The Brewers went on to score 6 runs and came from behind to win.- Jack K, New Berlin

Aww, congratulations. That's sweet. Continue reading →

Hey everybody let’s go home!

trevor hoffman brewersI was at the game on Wednesday and it was a good time. Yes, the Brewers lost. I know because I was there and I stayed for the whole thing. It wasn't a bad loss though. The team fought til the end and had a runner on third at the end of the ninth that would have tied the game. Cameron did his best to fight off the tough pitches, but he ended up popping out. It happens, it's baseball. The point is that I got to see the entire thing play out. I got to see Hoffman take down his former team easily in the ninth. I got to see Prince get a big hit. I got to see Escobar steal a big base in the ninth. I got to see it all and the reason I got to see it all wasn't because I had good seats or because I am Ryan Braun's favorite blogger. No, I got to see it all because, and you are not going to believe this, I STAYED FOR THE ENTIRE GAME!

I know, crazy right? I bought tickets to a baseball game and I actually stayed for the whole thing and watched it. Not because I am like this crazy obsessed baseball fan who needs a perfect scorecard, but because the team had a good chance to win and I wanted to see them do it! I KNOW!!! RIGHT!!!!!!!!!!!!

Look, it's your money and you can do what you want with it. After a really exciting 7th inning when the team pulled within one I had the good feeling that they were going to be able to comeback and win the game. After the 8th, when the team didn't score I still hadn't given up hope. Apparently everyone else did because a ton of people left after the eighth inning. Why? I have no idea. To me there are only three reasons to leave a game and they are as follows: Continue reading →

Deleted Scenes

To steal a page from Deadspin here are some deleted scenes, stuff not good enough to get their own post.

  • One of the first "big" posts we ever had was this tribute to Bob Uecker. We were linked on Deadspin and a lot of people found us for the first time thanks to that post. Originally there was a line in there that said "Bob has a stalker. Somehow I don’t see anyone stalking Ken Harrelson.", but this was later changed. Why? This email:

    To: The Editor of Millerparkdrunk.com

    Your website posting here:

    http://www.millerparkdrunk.com/baseball/ten-reasons-bob-uecker-is-better-than-whoever-your-announcer-is/

Created on February 12, 2009 is posting an expunged record associated with my name as part of a listing. I am asking out of professional courtesy that you please remove it from the article. The allegations that you reference in item ten were false, anyway, and the posting you make can be edited to use something else in item 10. Continue reading →
