This game is called bags, not cornhole. Got it?

Let's talk about bags. If you are reading this site and have actually been to Miller Park I don't think I need to explain to you what bags is. If you need explaining as to what it is, visit this site and remember that they spell bags like cornhole. Don't ask me why.

That being said, I've been in more than one game where people have argued. Argued over the rules, where to stand, where to throw from, everything. Drunk people like to argue, what can I say? That's why right here, right now, we are setting the record straight on how to play. What we say goes. No more arguing. Got it?

WHERE TO PLACE THE PLATFORMS

The official cornhole rules state that each platform should be 27 feet apart from the fronts of the platform. This is sometimes impossible in a tailgating situation as other people are trying to play too and you can take up other people's tailgate space. Try to get as close to 27 feet as you can, if you can't it doesn't really matter because it's not like one team will have an advantage. You're eaching throwing the same distance, so shut up about it.

INNINGS

First of all, the front of the platform is the line. Don't go past it. This isn't something that should even be discussed, but I feel it needs to be said.

Now, each team gets 4 bags. You can play to serve or flip a coin or whatever, but someone has to go first. Then you alternate bags. Whichever team scores the most goes first the next round. Winners choose in a rematch.

SCORING

To me, there is only one way to score: cancellation scoring. I believe this because the point of the game is to have fun and a 3 inning game is not fun. You want this to go on for awhile.

What is cancellation scoring? If I get three and you get three, we both get zero. If you get three and I get two, you get one. Simple.

POINTS VALUE

Bag in hole: three points.
Bag on board: one point.

You play to 21. TWENTY ONE. No more, no less.

SLAUGHTER RULE

Slaughter rules are stupid and should not exist. People are drinking, someone will screw up and people can catch up. If they don't catch up, you just get to make fun of them more later. This is much better than winning by slaughter.

If you don't have a bags platform, they are available at Wal-Mart or you can get one of these spiffy Wisconsin or Packers ones (other teams available, but I feel these are a bit too expensive anyways (you can buy bags only though) or cheaper plain ones at Amazon. Or just build your own.
