Not all “ballhawks” are like the Happy Youngster. Ive been to Busch Stadum quite a bit, and I have seen men in their 50′s and 60′s with baseball gloves standing around waiting for their chance to catch a baseball. Whatever their reasons are to get a baseball at a game whether it be to have a piece of the game or whatever its not a crime, and 99% of the people doing it arent abusive, shoving other fans or stepping on kids.

Kids arent entitled to a baseball from an adult just because theyre a child. Ive caught a few foul balls in my days of going to games, and I have them at home in a box in the closet. Im not totally obessive at games, and try to hunt down as many as I can but Im sure not going to just give it away to someone just because of their age, race or religion. I caught it, and Im entitled to keep it. Plenty of children get their 15 minutes of fame at baseball games anyway. MLB has an array of programs for kids to enter to get on the field, meet their favorite players etc.

I dont rip on tailgaters for doing their thing before a game. Do your thing. Whatever makes you happy. You bought a ticket for the game. If you thing is shagging BP baseballs before the game or just walking around the stadium then so be it.

People are just overcritical of each other, and are always down on each other for any kind of success a person recieves. If you got a spot on ESPN for king tailgater you would eat it up. The Happy Youngster seems a little cocky, but hes just doing this thing.

@Some Random Drunk: I bet you guys didn't know that ballhawks give plenty of balls away to kids. Read Nick's blog. He doesn't step in front of kids. Heck he even went to a game and just to get as many balls as he could... and GIVE THEM TO KIDS! Just get the facts right before you run your mouths off.
