Look, I like to drink beer. Lots of it. Beer is so, so tasty and I like what it does to me (mainly stop crying), but sometimes you can't drink beer. Sometimes you're in church. Sometimes you have to work later in the day. Sometimes your girlfriend tells you that if you have one more beer she will smash a bottle over your head. These things happen. At times like these I like to drink a little bit of raspberry tea. It's sweet and it has a nice flavor. Plus, it's fun to say. Go ahead and say it. Raspberry. Now say it like "rah-sperry". Funny right? I love raspberry tea.

Ryan Braun's restaurant in Lake Geneva does not have raspberry tea. The food is good, even if the menu is a bit weird. Seriously, can a brother just get some wings? Or how about an entree that I can pronounce? Are you trying to make me look stupid on my date or something? Carpaccio, amatriciana, gnocchi, honestly I feel like you are just making up words here. Like I do when I am losing at Scrabble.

I had a steak sandwich for lunch and it was probably one of my favorite steak sandwiches I've had in a long time. It was actually medium rare, thick pieces (not slices) of mozzarella, oven roasted tomatoes and a steak sauce that I really enjoyed. It was really good. I sat at the bar (because, seriously, where else would I sit?) and the girls were nice and knew their stuff. They were, of course, bored out of their mind because there was maybe four people in the whole room, but still. The beer selection and everything seemed decent.

Still, it's a classy joint. It's not a sports bar. It has a nice menu and when you go prepare to spend money. I felt undressed for lunch in my t-shirt, baseball hat, shorts and sandals. I felt like I should have at least been wearing a fedora. I think that's going to kind of be a problem with a place named after a baseball player, but what are you going to do? It's a nice place to eat, but it's more of a "take a date" variety nice place to eat than a "place to go after the game" nice place to eat. It's also not a "favorite place" kind of place, more of a "special occassion" kind of place. I will go there again and I will like it, but I feel like this should be said.

We shouldn't be surprised really, Ryan Braun said himself that he "wanted a contemporary place. A little L.A. A little Miami. A little New York. I wanted this to be more of a lifestyle restaurant, one representative of my personality." Who cares if what's representative of his personality might not fit our Midwestern tastes? It's his place.

Seriously though, get raspberry tea. Chanel Davis tell him to get it. Something.

Vince Morales is the guy who runs this site. He likes the Milwaukee Brewers, pro wrestling and beer. If he offended you he is very, very sorry.

Geez Mannie- you gotta figure that proper dress is: fedora, Remetee, liederhosen, black knee socks, mandals, fanny pack, meerschaum pipe, monacle and service dog/monkey. and then order absinthe with a sugar cube.
