The Endless Road Of Ryan Braun Hate

ATENCION: Miller Park Drunk is throwing a tailgate party. No, Miller Park Drunk is throwing the BEST TAILGATE PARTY in the WORLD. It's on Sunday July 27th and you can buy tickets. It will be amazing and you don't want to miss it. Click here for more info.

I thought we were over this, you know? Ryan Braun, he of the 18 missed games and "paltry" .837 OPS, was supposed to be over being the most hated man in baseball. It was a long time ago in the 24/7 news cycle/twitter age and he isn't the best hitter in baseball anymore. Heck, he's not even the best hitter on his own team anymore. People should really find something else to obsess over.

But not Kirk Gibson. Nope. The manager of the Arizona Diamondbacks still remembers 2011, when he was relevant and Braun was using PEDs to hit .500 when the Brewers eliminated the Diamondbacks. He won't forget that. That was his time to shine and Ryan Braun's drug use took that away. Or something. Who knows? All I know is that Kirk Gibson ordered the code red:

And it started up a bunch of this stuff: Continue reading →

Minus 11

As of this writing, the Brewers are eleven games over .500, in first place in the NL Central and currently own the best record in the league. Hang on, I need to re-read that sentence three or four times to let it sink in.

Okay, I'm good.

minus11At 18 wins and 7 losses, the Brewers are in a really good place. They are in the driver's seat for the division and have already surpassed pretty much everyone's expectations for them this season. Even if you were someone who thought the Brewers were something like a .500 team (me), you should be excited because .500 ball puts them at 86-87 wins and, at worst, a Wild Card spot.  It's pretty cool. In the past I've been known as an optimist regarding the Brewers season outlook so in theory I should be bouncing off the walls right now, but today I'm going to go a different route. Today, I'd like to be known as the Winston Wolfe of Brewers bloggers. After all, there is still something like 3 days left in the month of April and 167 games left in the season. Let's not start s-ing each other's d's quite yet.

We need to be real. So right now we're going to reveal...

ELEVEN THINGS THAT COULD GO WRONG WITH THE 2014 BREWERS Continue reading →

Fans React to A Letter From Ryan Braun

Letter to the fans of the Milwaukee Brewers:

I have always been very grateful for the privilege of playing baseball in the great city of Milwaukee.

diswank

I am so sorry for letting you down by being in denial for so long and not telling the whole truth about what happened.

braunjudy

I am ashamed and extremely embarrassed by the decisions I made. There are no excuses for what I did and I take full responsibility for my actions.

braunmchale

I apologize to all Brewers fans for disappointing you.

braunpotter

I came forward because I knew it was time for me to tell the truth and accept my punishment.

braunbryan

I understand I have abused your trust and that of our great owner Mark Attanasio and the entire Brewers organization.

braundog

Admitting my mistakes and asking for your forgiveness are the first steps in what I know will be a lengthy process to prove myself to you again.

braunduhhhhh

It is an honor to represent the people of Wisconsin by wearing a Brewers uniform.

braunpunk

I want all of you to know how much I have appreciated the support I've received from so many of you throughout my years with the organization.

braunhills

I will continue to work on improving myself and making amends for what I have done.

braunfingerbang

I am deeply sorry for my actions and I apologize to everyone I have let down. I am committed to doing everything I can to earn back your trust and support.

braundietcokegrl

Sincerely,

Ryan Braun

The Best and Worst of the Milwaukee Brewers 2013 First Half

worstbrewersfirsthalfIt's been awhile since I stole the Best and Worst gimmick from someone else (since the good times in fact,) but I felt this particular season was in more need of it than any before. After all, what season could be in need of some positivity more than this one? Put it this way, I debated with myself all morning on whether or not it should be called 'the Worst and Worst.' It's been that kind of season. So, without much further adieu let's get into this thing.

BEST: Jean Segura and Carlos Gomez

That's it. That's all the bests I have.

Okay, maybe not, but that is certainly how this season has felt at times. Nothing has really been great and these two have provided somewhere between 94 and 98 percent of all 2013 positive Brewers memories and I feel like that is a low estimate. They've been just plain fun to watch which is kind of funny because they play exactly the kind of baseball that the manager we don't care for loves to play. That's not to say that their style of baseball is wr0ng or that Roenicke's strategy is right, but these two have proven themselves time and again to be the exceptions that prove the rule. While simultaneously proving that they, as players, rule.

Jean Segura is young and probably not this good with his high BABIP and all, but he has made that Greinke trade look like an absolute steal (even while Johnny Hellweg gives up a homerun on eight out of every ten pitches thrown) and shortstop looks solidified for some time to come. He probably won't be an All-Star again, but he won't be Yuniesky Betancourt ever so he's basically the greatest shortstop in Brewers history. (White guys not included.)

Gomez on the other hand... actually, let's do this right. Continue reading →

The best tailgate party of the year returns

PANTS PARTY 3 TIME IS NEAR!

pp3-tshirtThis year's Pants Party is going to be the absolute best. For those of you who don't follow us on social media, we are doing the Pants Party 3 funding entirely through IndieGoGo. What does this mean? It means we have multiple reward levels designed to allow us to hold the biggest Pants Party yet. You want your name on your shirt? We can do that. You want a set a bags to go along with your tickets? We got that. You want to go to Saturday's game? We got you. You want your own booze? We got that too. Unless you want a blownado, we probably got you covered.

The party will be on Sunday June 23rd before the 1:10 game against the Atlanta Braves. (This is also Polish Heritage Day and everyone who actually makes it inside will get a Polish Sausage bobblehead.) The party will start as soon as they start letting cars in the parking lot. We will have all-you-can-drink beer, an additional drinking option (think jungle juice,) all-you-can-eat food (brats, as well as some next level tailgating food,) tailgating games, t-shirts, stickers and much, much more. I am not kidding when I say that it is going to be the best tailgate party of the year. It's going to be the best tailgate party of the year.

How much do I believe in this thing? So much I made this video. Continue reading →
