There is a lot of talk about Doug Melvin these days. Whether it's his bobblehead day, the Fire Doug Melvin blog or Mark A's recent comments about him. Everyone has an opinion on Doug Melvin, he is a hot item right now. Whether or not he is to blame for what happened this season is up for discussion (I say no), but he is our GM and he's pretty good at what he does. He's important to this team's future. Now I've been watching TV all of my life and I know there is only one true way to honor those who are important to you and that's with a roast.
So join a calvacade of stars as they roast Brewers General Manager Doug Melvin live from the Pabst Theater(!) after the jump. Continue reading »
So you say that you are sick of me? Well, I am sick of you too! You say that you want this "stunt" to be over? Well, I want your stunt to be over!
Look dudes I got better things to do than sit around on my computer and clickity-clack on the keyboard about baseball all day. I could go out and, you know, SLEEP WITH WOMEN. I am not a nerd blogger like you guys living in your moms basement. I like to go out and drink and sleep with chicks and update my fantasy team. I like to drive my BMW with the top down listening to Soulja Boy as loud as it goes. I could be shopping at American Eagle right now instead of writing on this stupid blog. I could be drinking a dub rum d (double rum and diet to the uninitiated) at a strip club getting a lap dance right now. Instead I am writing on the internet about baseball? No thanks. Baseball is dumb anyways. I prefer football. Not only that, but I have the best fantasy team ever this year. Check out my roster. Continue reading »
I have been a Cubs fan all my life ever since the day my mom dropped me off at my dad's and he sat me down in front of the TV when I was two years old and told me to stop crying and watch the Cubbies. I watched Harry Caray that day and I thought "I wish this guy was my dad." (KIDDING POPS!) I was hooked from the start. Since then I have attended numerous Cubs games both at Wrigley and in Milwaukee. Yet every time I have gone to Milwaukee and every time I have written for this website, I have been hated. WHY?
I don't get it. I have been going to Wisconsin my whole life. We have a summer home in Lake Geneva. We spend money at your restaurants. We pay your parking tickets. We go to your ballpark and we sell the place out. Then we stay in your crappy hotels (can a brother get a Drake Hotel?) and eat at your crappy restaurants (oooh fried cod, how original). Yet when we show up at the game we get shit on. What did we ever do to you? Besides, you know, be better than you at baseball. Continue reading »
I just wanted to say hello and tell you a few things about myself. My name is Chad Trixie and I work in some sort of financial field. I am from the suburb of Schaumburg, but prefer to tell everyone (especially at the Big Ten college I attended) that I am from Chicago. I drive a Range Rover, which I am thinking of trading in for one of those hybrids. My favorite Cub of all time is without a doubt Ryne Sandberg. I, perhaps ironically(?), enjoy drinking Old Style even when I am not at games and I'm definitely not afraid to show up at work hungover. I'm just a regular guy.
Despite what you might think about me I am not a "corporate overlord" in this to make money. I just enjoy writing about baseball and thought this blog would be a good way to do it. In a lot of ways I am like the Cubs ownership in that I am committed to winning. I spent what it took to acquire this blog and I might lose some money, but I come from money so it's not like I need this to support myself, my dad made enough money for me to never work again which allows me to express myself creatively.
So don't expect the website to immediately turn into an ad factory. It will still be the same old Miller Park Drunk you have known and loved. I just might write about the Cubs a little bit too. If you don't like it, don't read it. Simple as that.
Before I go I just wanted to say that everyone should check out this Acai berry website. I have personally been taking this and in the past six months I have lost 45 pounds, gotten smarter and grew three inches in my pants (if you catch my drift.) Acai berry changed my life. Let it change yours.
The Happy Youngster is a much maligned character among Brewers fans because he caught a baseball and wanted to get something in return for it. To a guy like me he is pretty damn cool. I wear my glove to every game, but I haven't caught anything. This dude? According to his website he's caught over 50 game home run balls, WOW! I shot him an email to tell him that we wouldn't be making fun of him as much and he was kind enough to grant me an interview.
WFD: Mr. Youngster, can I call you Happy?
THY: Actually I'd prefer you didn't. Haha, just kidding.
WFD: Dude I just spit my Mountain Dew out that was so funny.
