In their recent analysis of a trade between the Athletics and the Astros the gang over at Brew Crew Ball included this line in their opening:
Both sides of yesterday's Athletics/Astros trade show us why it's good to be a Brewer fan.
The gist of the article, it seems, is that the As gave up a lot to fill a need that the Brewers no longer have and that they are in a better position going forward than the Astros. This is oh so very true. Jean Segura could work out great and fill a serious need for a long time, it would suck to be the Astros and the Brewers have very few legit holes in their roster. It is a good time to root for this particular baseball team over those particular baseball teams. (Well, except the As who have an (arguably) better front office, deeper farm system and had a much more fun 2012 than the Brewers, but still.) This is a good point, I suppose, liking the Brewers is "fun" right now. They've been in the discussion for the playoffs in four of the past six years and have actually been there twice. They field teams with superstars like Ryan Braun, Zack Greinke, Ben Sheets Prince Fielder, Eric Gagne and CC Sabathia. Best of all, they aren't the Cubs so the idea of them winning the World Series seems plausible. If you like baseball teams because they might win the World Series, then the Brewers sure are a decent to average choice of baseball team to like!
Everyone keeps saying that we should enjoy this time as Brewers fans because no matter what happens this has been a great season. Many Brewers team records have been set this year, they won their first division since 198-freaking-2 and we have a strong chance of seeing our best player win the MVP award.
Together again. Slightly less drunk.
The regular season shows you who the really good teams are and the playoffs are about luck. If you are a Brewers fan, this is the best time to be alive and every single game is one to be cherished. NO MATTER WHAT. Or at least that's what my even-keeled alter ego would have you believe.
You see today I am not going to be that guy. Today I am going to be your fears personified. I am going to be just as reactionary, judgmental, doubtful, non-believing and fire Ron Roenicke-y as your average Brew Crew Ball editor commenter. (jokes!) Joining me as the voice of reason will be the illustrious Tyler Maas, fresh off a trip to the Vietnamese sweatshop where his slaves employees make his fresh Forward Fabrics t-shirts.
(We started this a few days ago so sorry that some of this is irrelevant.)
MPD: As of right now the Brewers look like they are going to face the Braves in the first round. They can probably beat the Braves, right? I mean, they have better hitting and better pitching and better defense, but we can beat them. (I THINK!?) I'm not worried about the Braves. We kicked them out of Milwaukee and replaced them with the Brewers for a reason.
My question for you Tyler is, what are we going to do if the Brewers end up facing the Phillies? How could we possibly beat them? I saw these regular season games a couple of weeks ago where the Brewers lost 3 out of 4 and they did not look like they could beat the Phillies in those three games that they lost! Has a team ever been eliminated after game 1 before? Is this the year that it happens? Is there any way we can just forfeit the series so everyone can get their playoff ticket money back?
Here is some recent comments we've had coming into the blog on one of our classic posts.

Grande Slam tonight bitch
First of all, are there not Toronto Blue Jays blogs or something? Someone should start one of those up because apparently they have the internet in Canada now. Second, I realize that Canada is a little bit behind America in, well, everything, but are they just getting my posts from December now? This is OLD news. It's not like we've been sitting here tauning them about the trade the whole time. We knew Brett Lawrie would be good, we thought he might be awesome even, but we made the trade for the right reasons.
Sometimes we read an article so bad we have to "FJM it" as the cool kids say. This is one of those articles as Jim Stingl covers a non-story about Miller Park seat-squatters who apparently are everywhere and won't give up the seats once they are caught. Of course, there is just one example here and it's coming from a guy who felt the best way to handle it would be to contact Jim Stingl about it so, you know.
Hey everyone, check out this really cool promotion the Brewers are doing:
Beginning at 7 a.m. TODAY, fans may pick up one of the 1,000 ornaments that line Milwaukee's Lakefront Parks, including Veterans Park, McKinley Park, Bradford Beach and Lake Park!
Over 1,000 lawn ornaments, without prizes, have been placed and will be available along Milwaukee's lakefront along Lincoln Memorial Drive from Veterans Park leading north through Lake Park. Beginning at 7 a.m., fans may come to these Milwaukee County Parks to pick up their very own Bernie Brewer ornament, compliments of the Brewers.
With the assistance of the award-winning Milwaukee County Parks and other Wisconsin-based parks, Brewers fans across Wisconsin will have an opportunity to win unique and valuable prizes by participating in the "Where's Bernie?" scavenger hunt.
In preparation for Spring Madness, Bernie Brewer has been hard at work. Bernie has already planted over 1,400 Bernie Brewer lawn ornaments across the state. Four hundred of the lawn ornaments have special prizes attached, and have been placed in parks throughout the 5-county metro Milwaukee area as well as in parks in Madison, Appleton, and Green Bay.
That sounds awesome! Man, too bad I don't live in one of the participating areas I would have gone to try and get one of those things. That lawn ornament would look great in front of the door to the basement at my mom's house.
