MPD Book Club: Wrigleyworld

I read the book Wrigleyworld because A) I respected the author (Big League Stew's Kevin Kaduk) and B) the premise sounded exactly like something I wish I could do. The premise being that Kevin quits his job in Kansas City to move to Wrigleyville and attends as many Cubs games as possible without working. Getting drunk, not working and going to a ton of baseball games is pretty much the ideal lifestyle for me so I was interested, even if it was about the Cubs/Wrigleyville.

The worries that I had going into reading it is that Kevin Kaduk would turn out to be a guy like Chad, but as soon as I got into reading it Kaduk makes it real clear that he isn't one of those guys, he hates those guys and he will make fun of those guys often. Continue reading →

Despite what Walk Off Walk says, I am no corporate overlord

extenzeHello there Walk Off Walk reader, how are you doing today? I see that you have found us via the website Walk Off Walk and their popular post "Miller Park Drunk Sells Out to Corporate Overlords from Chicago".

I just wanted to say hello and tell you a few things about myself. My name is Chad Trixie and I work in some sort of financial field. I am from the suburb of Schaumburg, but prefer to tell everyone (especially at the Big Ten college I attended) that I am from Chicago. I drive a Range Rover, which I am thinking of trading in for one of those hybrids. My favorite Cub of all time is without a doubt Ryne Sandberg. I, perhaps ironically(?), enjoy drinking Old Style even when I am not at games and I'm definitely not afraid to show up at work hungover. I'm just a regular guy.

Despite what you might think about me I am not a "corporate overlord" in this to make money. I just enjoy writing about baseball and thought this blog would be a good way to do it. In a lot of ways I am like the Cubs ownership in that I am committed to winning. I spent what it took to acquire this blog and I might lose some money, but I come from money so it's not like I need this to support myself, my dad made enough money for me to never work again which allows me to express myself creatively.
So don't expect the website to immediately turn into an ad factory. It will still be the same old Miller Park Drunk you MLB Tickets at StubHub!have known and loved. I just might write about the Cubs a little bit too. If you don't like it, don't read it. Simple as that.

Before I go I just wanted to say that everyone should check out this Acai berry website. I have personally been taking this and in the past six months I have lost 45 pounds, gotten smarter and grew three inches in my pants (if you catch my drift.) Acai berry changed my life. Let it change yours.

Morning Read

zubaz must dieThis morning's read is an article by one of the greatest writers of our generation, the smart, funny, witty and modest Vince Morales returns to Decider Milwaukee (and Madison) for an article entitled "Talkin' Baseball: Miller Park Drunk this you should forget the Packers & stick with the Brewers." That's right, the night after one of the great Packer comebacks, an Aaron Rodgers led comeback win against the Bears at that, we decided to tell everyone that watching the Packers is stupid. Classic.

Read it. It's good.

Since we're in the shameless plug department I might as well try this. I bought too many tickets to next week's series with the Cubs. I have four extra tickets to every game and am just trying to get rid of them, taking a big loss in the process. Check out my ebay page for details or just click Read More.

Until then, read our Decider article! Especially you, Madison! Continue reading →

Keep watching, the best part hasn’t even happened yet

Drunk Brewers fanIt seems that the bandwagon is emptying at an alarming rate. I try to keep positive because, well for one it's not very smart for me to say "stop caring about baseball, the Brewers season is over! Go find another blog!" and two, it's still baseball. Crazy things happen all the time. You just never know. Of course with every loss to the Pirates, you kind of DO know.

A recent poll on Brew Crew Ball has 1% of Brewers fans saying they won't give up on the season until it's over with 83% having already given up. 83%!!!! I'm not exactly sure what this means though. If you are among the 83%, do you still care about what happens? Or have you mentally checked out? Have you moved on to football season? If this is the case, I ask you to reconsider. This Brewers season is not the one we wanted, but it's still the Brewers season. It's kind of like a bad porno. Sure, the girls aren't as hot as you expected and they're all tatt'ed up like Josh Hamilton. Sure, there is too much closeup. Sure, the plot sucks and the music is terrible. The fact of the matter is it's still a porno, it's still people having sex. Despite it's problems there are a number of good reasons to continue watching the Brewers. Just like you keep watching the porno for the T&A, you should keep watching the Brewers for these reasons (and just like in porno not one of them is a "sausage race".) Continue reading →

Deleted Scenes

To steal a page from Deadspin here are some deleted scenes, stuff not good enough to get their own post.

  • One of the first "big" posts we ever had was this tribute to Bob Uecker. We were linked on Deadspin and a lot of people found us for the first time thanks to that post. Originally there was a line in there that said "Bob has a stalker. Somehow I don’t see anyone stalking Ken Harrelson.", but this was later changed. Why? This email:

    Your website posting here:

Created on February 12, 2009 is posting an expunged record associated with my name as part of a listing. I am asking out of professional courtesy that you please remove it from the article. The allegations that you reference in item ten were false, anyway, and the posting you make can be edited to use something else in item 10. Continue reading →
