Last night the Cubs were a trending topic on twitter

The Chicago Cubs lost to the Milwaukee Brewers 18-1 last night. Tying a record for hits given up in a game and basically being embarrassed on their home field in front of their home fans. I almost felt sorry for them.

Instead, I decided to collect a bunch of tweets people posted after the game whining about their team. That seems much more like me, laughing at others displeasure.

bleedcubbieblue On Wrigley scoreboard they ran out of yellow numbers to indicate hits for #Brewers. Had to use a white 26. #Cubs

Jack_E04 Cubs you are terrible. Time to be a die heart sox fan

BballDude23 Worst. Cubs. Game. Ever. Ommmgggg

krazymoe Glad to see the Cubs only lost by 17 runs tonight. We'll get em one of these days...

rokkherCASBAH had a lot of fun at the cubs game even though they lost horribly. it was fun. :] i'm gonna miss my 3BJ boys. <3

ajaywadhwa I heard that @JohnCusack was at the Brewers 18-1 victory against the Cubs. It must be serendipity. The cubs got destroyed like it was 2012.

Cocoluv1908 Hey Cubs have you just totally stopped trying? Continue reading →

The Five People You Meet at Miller Park Drunk’s Pants Party

Miller Park Drunk's Pants Party is going to be many things. It's going to be the first (and possibly last) meet up this site ever does. It's going to be one of the greatest tailgates of the year. It's going to be awesome, really awesome. More importantly, it's going to be an experience that changes your life on a deep level for many, if not all, of you.

Now, I know what you're thinking "Shut up, Vince. I know you are just trying to sell tickets to your stupid party that's over a month away" and you would be 100% correct. I am trying to sell tickets to my stupid party that's over a month away. Shit costs monies, yo. But I am also being completely honest with you right now. Your life will be changed by this event. You will walk out of (or possibly be carried out of) this event with your life changed in ways that you never thought possible. You see, you're going to meet people at this event. People you never knew existed and people you never thought could exist. People who will change your perception of reality to the point that you will start carrying a totem around like Cobb in Inception. People who will blow your mind. In fact, I know these people and if you are even a little bit interested in this event I'd like to tell you about them. I think you'll like them. Continue reading →

THE MOST IMPORTANT SERIES OF THE SEASON

Some people think that this three game series is the most important series of the season. After all, anytime two disappointing, out of contention, under .500 teams meet in June for a mid-week three game series it has to be important, right?

Cubs fans and Brewers fans actually have a lot in common right now. They both want to fire their GM (that being said, I'd take Suppan and his contract over Soriano and his contract any day of the week, they still got four years of that guy). They both can't believe how many games their team has lost to the Pirates. They both were recently questioned by police in connection with a sexual assault at a Wrigleyville bar. They both expected their team to play at least .500. It's not been a good year so far for either team's fans and a win against the perceived "rivals" would go a long way towards healing a few wounds. For some fans, they need these wins. Continue reading →

What did you expect?

I've been getting a lot of this "what did you expect? You knew this team was crappy" crap lately and it is really annoying me. I didn't expect the Brewers to be the 1927 Yankees this year or even the 2009 Yankees, but I do think they will compete. They aren't this bad and this bad isn't really that bad. Look who they've played so far:

Rockies: Contender
Cardinals: Contender
Cubs: Maybe good, not this bad
Nationals: Surprisingly good
Pittsburgh: Average, not as bad as last year or year before
San Diego: Surprisingly good

This isn't last year or the year before. Maybe the Nationals, Padres and (to a lesser extent) the Pirates are something more than the National League's punching bags. The players they have are in the major leagues for a reason, right? Maybe we just need to hold our breath til we play the Braves or Reds or Astros. The thing is that even if our expectations were too high, there is no way anyone could have expected things to be this bad either. Continue reading →

Mr. Brightside says “At least this happened”

Well that sucked. Getting swept is never fun, especially when Miller Park is filled with people cheering for that sweep. Unlike most losses there wasn't really a moment you could point to in any of the three games that they had a chance to win in. They just got beat, badly.

On the bright side this happened:

A spectator fell about 14 feet from the lower level in left field while the Cubs took batting practice about an hour before their game with the Milwaukee Brewers.

The man wearing Cubs gear and believed to be in his 20s was reaching out over the railing down the left field line attempting to catch foul balls on Sunday when he tumbled headfirst over the rail and onto the hard dirt below.

Unfortunately there were no pictures or video taken of the incident. Instead of filling in you in with details and writing all about it, we decided to get lazy and use bad photshopping skills hire an artist to recreate what happened. Enjoy. Continue reading →
