Ryan Braun wins appeal, long live Ryan Braun

Ryan Braun will not be missing 50 games due to a suspension after winning his appeal against the MLB. This is the best news Brewers fans have received in months. The good guys won. This is awesome, awesome news. This is a reason to celebrate as Evan Rytlewski was kind enough to point out:

Personally, this is the happiest non-game day excited I have been for the Brewers since the Zack Greinke trade. I smiled, I called or texted all of my friends and I did a little dance around the apartment. It was a good day for me. There isn't going to be a need for any "oh wait til we get Ryan Braun back" conversations or blog posts that I wasn't looking forward to having/doing. Now that Ryan Braun has been exonerated on all charges we can finally put this whole ordeal behind us and move on with what really matters: drinking baseball. Right? Continue reading →

Seven

Yes, there was Braun.

And yes, there was also Prince.

And UGH, there was Greinke.

But when I think of where I was and what happened on 10/9/2011 in Game 1 of the 2011 NLCS I will think of only one person and that person is Yuniesky Betancourt. MY MAIN MAN YUNIESKY BETANCOURT. YUNI YUNI YUNI YUNIIIIIEEEEE.

Yuni has gotten a lot of crap from people throughout the season and rightfully so, but one thing we should never discount is that when he swings the bat at a (good) pitch and makes (good) contact he can do very good things. He has power in that bat of his which is probably why he swings it so damn much. We can argue the merits of Yuniesky Betancourt as a major league shortstop until we are blue in the face, but the fact remains that Yuni can hit a lot better than a lot of shortstops out there. Yes, other people have higher batting averages and higher OPS, but Yuni is always among the top half of ISO because he just hits the ball harder than most people. Yuni isn't the best, but he is not without value. He is a valuable member of this team. 0.5 Wins Above Replacement is still above replacement and we shouldn't forget that.

That being said, is Yuni the most MLB playoffs baseball player ever? Continue reading →

Get a life Blue Jays fans

Here is some recent comments we've had coming into the blog on one of our classic posts.

lawrie is goin hit 400 home runs bat 300 and be the hardest working guy on the feild. smd you brewer bitches lawries a great guy, marcums a old fuck face

Fucking retard, look at Brett lawrie now

Still like the trade???? Highest slugging % in MLB HISTORY after 30 at bats…… sorry brew crew but AA bent you over on this one

Looking like Toroto got the better deal now.. EH?

immature, cocky, brash and 21 years old. your posted pics were of all those descriptions alright mb drunk however you missed the key points. hit for avg, hit for power, HIT HIT HIT when it counts. and oh ya, EXCITING to watch. Brewers are all of that arent they? U suck and the Brewers suck.

Grande Slam tonight bitch

First of all, are there not Toronto Blue Jays blogs or something? Someone should start one of those up because apparently they have the internet in Canada now. Second, I realize that Canada is a little bit behind America in, well, everything, but are they just getting my posts from December now? This is OLD news. It's not like we've been sitting here tauning them about the trade the whole time. We knew Brett Lawrie would be good, we thought he might be awesome even, but we made the trade for the right reasons.

With that being said... Continue reading →

To trade (for a shortstop) or not to trade, that is the question

To say that Brewers nation is fed up with Yuniesky Betancourt would be like saying drugs made Lindsay Lohan less attractive. It's a gross understatement and it doesn't even tap the surface of what's really going on and what people are thinking. People are tired of Yuni and his bad throws and his one pitch at-bats and everything else he can't seem to do right. There are people who'd prefer to see Josh Wilson and Craig Counsell out there everyday instead of Yuni and it's hard to blame them for it. People want change.

Of course, Josh Wilson and Craig Counsell are not the answer. As nice as they have been as fill-ins they are still just that. Take away Josh Wilson's two early homeruns and his numbers don't look so good. Also, he doesn't wear sunglasses. Craig Counsell, as great as he is, cannot play everyday. The Brewers need a starting shortstop that can start every game and be a positive contributor to the team. Let's try and figure out what the options are and see what (if anything) the Brewers can do about the Yuni situation. Continue reading →

Nyjer Morgan is eccentric

Brewers fans and much of the Brewers blogosphere is going crazy over Nyjer Morgan right now. He's currently hitting .474 with two triples and playing his usual great defense so it's understandable that he has captured the imagination of many Brewers fans. He's a solid player with good speed and he always looks like he's playing hard. (I say "looks like" because pretty much everyone is playing hard, but some people just look like they are doing it harder than other people. Nyjer is one of those guys. Not a knock, just a fact.)

What people are going even more crazy about is Tony Plush. Who is Tony Plush? Tony Plush is Nyjer Morgan's "gentlemen alter ego" that occasionally talks in the third person. Which, I don't know about you, but I think sounds completely normal. Continue reading →
