Yo is my bro

Well it kind of looks like this is going to be Brewers Appreciation Week because I am all about the love right now. These guys deserve it. Aramis Ramirez has been killing the baseball lately and that deserves kudos. I could write twenty five hundred words about Ryan Braun anytime, any place. I could do it every single day if I wanted to. He's that good, but you know who never really seems to get his due? Yo. We hardly ever talk about Yo which is weird because Yo is freaking awesome. Yo is my bro.

Yovani Gallardo has always been outshone by his fellow starters. When the Brewers got Marcum we knew that Marcum would be #2 to Yo, but we still thought about Marcum more. Marcum was new, Marcum was exciting and Yo was still Yo. Then the Brewers got Zack Greinke and Gallardo took a clear backseat. Zack Greinke was a former Cy Young winner with all the potential in the world. He seemed like he was a constant threat to pitch a perfect game or strike out a billion batters. Yo? Yo would get like nine strikeouts and be done by the sixth inning. This was always the perception at least. As it would turn out it was Zack who'd rack up the strikeouts and be done early. Yo would do that too, but he was still the best bet of the three to go deep into a game. (Think Game 1 of the NLDs.) Who knew? Continue reading →

Last night, I didn’t get to sleep at all

AC/DC Hells BellsI wrote a post yesterday about how last night's game was going to be the greatest game ever. Now, maybe it wasn't the greatest game ever but for me it was the absolute perfect game to go to. Manny Parra started the day and he was off, walking people and giving up hits. At the end of two innings we were down 3-0. This meant that the team had to come from behind and Manny Parra need to straighten up. Both things happened.

Manny Parra threw the next four scoreless and ended up with 8 strikeouts. Prince Fielder and Rickie Weeks combined to hit three home runs to put the team in the lead and then Mike Cameron gave us one more for insurance. My two favorite players and my favorite Fielder all went yard and the team was rocking. It was, to me, the perfect game. Until that is the ninth inning came and it became Trevor Time. Then the game ascended to another level.

Trevor Time is something like I have never experienced before. For those of you who have never been there live for it, I hope that you one day get to do so. Last year, the team was awesome. No doubt about it, but in a close game in the ninth you were worried. You didn't expect to win. Especially with Gagne, less so with Torres but the thought always lingered. How will we blow this one? The thoughts have been there for years from Gagne to Cordero to Turnbow and on and on. This is not the case with Trevor Hoffman. People know that he is going to close the game out and the Brewers will win. It's just expected and that's something that you can't really quantify. It's a pretty awesome time to be a Brewers fan right now.

LOLBREWERS: Yovani’s Big Day

When you go to a baseball game at noon and then proceed to stay out til bar time, that's a long day. My thoughts of the game are this: Yovani is awesome and what the hell were the Pirates thinking having Snell throw 130 pitches (and why, oh why, did they try to steal with two outs and Braun at the plate while Snell is throwing his 129th, 130th and 131st pitches to Braun? Tired pitcher/best hitter. This isn't brain surgery.) I had fun making fun of the Pirates bullpen quite a bit and at one point told them "don't even wait for the call, just start throwing." Seriously, it's not like he was throwing a perfect game.

Anyways, Yo's awesome and that's all that matters.

Did anyone enjoy the live twittering of the game? It was a bit difficult and my friends were a little annoyed with me, but I thought it went off well. I get a lot of @replies, so that's cool. Let me know what you think and I might make it a regular thing when I go to games.

Also, today is the last today to Become a Fan of us on facebook and win two tickets to the 5/13 game against the Marlins. They are looking like they will be Field Outfield Reserve which have a face value of $38/ea. So we got that going for us. So, do it already. 125 people can't be wrong.
