Is it still proper to wear my Prince Fielder jerseys to Miller Park? My view is he gave so many great years of his career here, and many memorable moments. Obviously, one of the top Brewers of All-Time. So I say I am ok with wearing them, and I wouldn't pass judgement on others who do the same (but really people, the John Jaha ones have to go). What are your views on this MPD? - John

Is this a joke? Prince Fielder is a Detroit Tiger. The ink on his contract isn't even fresh and you want to honor his contributions to the team? Get a grip. Save that shit til 2020 when they give him a bobblehead and add him to the Walk of Fame.

I think people who think it's okay with wearing the jerseys of people who leave the team (the very next season, no less) are the same kind of people who think it's better to be friends with your ex instead of never talking to them again. What's the point? We got what we wanted out of them, had some good times and then things went south and you moved on. Trevor Hoffman saves number 600

Last night Trevor Hoffman saved his 600th game of his career. This is a big number, a number few will ever reach, and on it's own is very impressive. Trevor Hoffman has had a great career and he deserved to make it to this point. He was a great reliever, highly above average, every season of his career except for this one. I am happy for him. Good for you, Trevor. You worked hard to get to this point and you should enjoy it. You are truly one of the best closers of all time and it couldn't have happened to a nicer guy.

Now go away.

I didn't watch last night's game or go to it (despite having free tickets) because as my good friend Tyler Maas pointed out to me on facebook, Sons of Anarchy was on!

Awesome start to Sons tonight. I have no regrets that I watched that instead of seeing some guy get a meaningless amount of whatever at some place.

Do you know how long that show has been on hiatus? Nine months! Do you know how massive my blue balls for this show were? Plus, it's not like this game was going to somehow catapult the Brewers back into contention. I'm glad they won because screw the Cardinals and I guess in some twisted way I am happy that number 600 came against the same team that made us realize that Trevor Hoffman wasn't a good pitcher anymore. I mean, who could forget April 9th when Hoffman gave up the homerun to a guy on one knee? Or April 11th when Hoffman blew it and Casey bailed him out. These were defining moments of his season whether we realized it or not.

The truth is the season is lost and a moment like yesterday can be looked at as a lone bright spot in a long, crappy season. That's nice and maybe next year we can get a HOFFMAN 600 bobblehead, but it still doesn't change the fact that the season could have worked out completely different if Trevor Hoffman didn't singlehandedly lose 5 games before June 2nd. Let's try and keep some perspective here, we're not a bunch of Padres fans who deserve to be blindly happy about this. We're Brewers fans who saw a guy get his 600th save in a career that didn't affect us much.

Retro Weekends are going to be awesome

I love Retro Friday at Miller Park. Some out there will rail against it saying that we need to leave the past in the past and that the team needs to forge it's own identity and blah blah blah, to which I say screw off. Saying we should get rid of the ball and glove logo is like saying we should get rid of the American flag. You know who wants to get rid of the American flag? Terrorists.

Luckily for us and the safety of our nation, the Brewers agree with me. In fact they are taking retro Fridays into the future for their 40th anniversary and turning them into four retro weekends. Let me tell you, they sound AWESOME. Continue reading »

YOU ARE A SELLOUT MIKE RIVERA AND I HATE YOU

MIKE RIVERA SELLOUTSometimes I wonder why I even watch this god awful sport. The World Series champion New York Yankees, the richest team in any sport that have a value almost 5x that of the Milwaukee Brewers, have stolen another one from the poor, stupid teams like us. Mike Rivera has signed with the New York Yankees and I think we all know what this one was about. These stupid baseball players, all they care about is money! You know it's not enough to offer a major league job and a nice city to play in, these greedy a-holes want more. MONEY, MONEY, MONEY! Why do I even bother to follow this team? Why do I even write this stupid blog? I mean, it's not like the players care! Nooooooo, they just go to whoever offers them the most money. Mike Rivera doesn't care if I get diagnosed with a life threatening disease and the only thing that can cure me is him re-signing with the Brewers, all he cares about is padding his wallet! NEW YORK NEW YORK! THE CITY THAT NEVER F'N SLEEPS! WHERE MONEY RAINS FROM THE SKY AND YOU CAN TAKE YOUR DRIVER'S TEST IN 400 DIFFERENT LANGUAGES! Man, screw New York. Seriously, New York you can f right off.

It's just sad, you know, that a small market team like the Brewers can't compete dollar for dollar with a team like the Yankees. Kids grow up rooting for their heroes, but as soon as their heroes become free agents they leave the kids behind. (It's just like my parents divorce really.) Whatever. CONGRATULATIONS MIKE RIVERA I hope you are happy to know that you have ruined my Christmas with your evil, greedy ways. The Mike Rivera jersey I got from Santa is now kindling in my fire! Thanks for nothing, JERK!

EDIT: It appears that Mike Rivera was actually non-tendered by the Brewers who didn't want him back and he signed a minor league deal with the Yankees. So, sorry about that Mike. I take it back.
