Where everybody hates Suppan, Monday Mailbag part 2

Where in the "levels of dispiriting" does getting swept by the Scrubs 25-4 fall? And, is it already time to make the rest of the season about tailgating first and baseball second?
- Jake

Wait, is that a conscious decision that people actually make? I thought there was just "tailgating first-baseball second" people and "baseball first-tailgating second" people. I didn't know it was possible to switch sides during the season. If such a switch even exists it is way to early to flip it.

The truth is that while these losses were pretty awful for our positivity and our self esteem we have to try and remember that they are only three games in a long season. Three games in the first month doesn't mean a whole lot and if the Brewers end up finishing the month under .500 (where they currently sit) that isn't really enough to worry. We have to try and remember 2008 (the measuring stick by which all future Brewers seasons shall be judged). The Brewers started that season 6-1 and looked to be a team to be reckoned with, but then they went 14-23 in their next 37 before catching fire and going 70-48 the rest of the year. If someone offered you the chance to start 14-23, but to finish at 90-72 you would take that every time. I don't know about you guys, but I much prefer to go home with a win on a 90 degree day in the summer than a game where the roof is closed and I'm wearing pants.

So you’re not going to Opening Day…

For the past two weeks I have been planning on NOT going to Opening Day. I got great tickets for Tuesday and I just didn't feel like paying the higher price for Opening Day tickets. I been there, I done that. (You got guns? Yo, I got straps.) Instead, I planned to have an Opening Day party and watching the game on TV. I make my own fun and there's nothing at the stadium that would really change that.

Well, some things have changed and I am now going to Opening Day (as a designated driver, seriously). That doesn't mean I still don't have these cool plans for an Opening Day party and that I can't share them with all of you. Continue reading »

Gender roles in modern society (the one where we talk about banging a Brewer)

I have a question for the male readers of the site. Have you ever been pondering the offseason moves of the Brewers and thought to yourself "I am glad they re-signed Craig Counsell, he's kinda hot"? I mean, everyone has had that conversation with a friend that starts like "I know you're not gay, but..." and you immediately yell out "DONNIE FROM NEW KIDS!", right? And then after having that conversation you continue on to "Okay I know you are totally straight and stuff, but which Brewers player would you have sex with if you had to?" No? You've never had that conversation with one of your buddies? Not even once? Really? Well, I guess I'll just have to tell you about it then because Tyler and I have had that conversation many, many times and we'd like to share one with you. Why? Because we are so totally okay with our sexuality that we don't care who reads it! We don't care if the guys we are writing about making sweet love to us read it, we want them to! So, like, forward this to them. Please.

Vince: Hey Tyler, I've got a question for you that's been bothering me for awhile and I want your opinion on it. If you had to have sex with a member of the Milwaukee Brewers, who would it be? Continue reading »

Why aren’t you running, Rickie Weeks?

rickieweeks

Because I can't keep runnin' awayyyyyy-ayy-ayyy.

Well, I have to admit I had WAY too much fun with that. Anytime you can get the most popular Brewers blog on the web to write something like this:

That prompted Miller Park Drunk to launch their "RUNNING" series. I'll link to the Ken Macha and Corey Hart chapters here...the other two are a little too obscene to even be linked from this site.

I mean, that's just a job well done. (Especially considering the Alcides Escobar one was deemed too offensive and that's the only one with a shred of truth.) I have to say I thought THE RUNNING SERIES was a big success.

We're off for the weekend. I think Counsell will re-sign at some point this weekend, but other than that there shouldn't be anything going on. If you need me I'll be at the "World's Greatest Dart Bar" on Sunday, making fun happen. Until Monday, Maas cervezas por favor.
