The Best of #WeLoveAx

Well, I'd be lying if I said that #WeLoveAx wasn't the worldwide phenomena that I expected it to be. I mean, you would think saying something nice about one of the best players on your favorite baseball team in a 140 characters or less would be a no-brainer, but apparently not. If there is one thing I've learned in life it's that I do not look good in a thong some people just don't like to do fun stuff. It's like when my old roommate's co-worker came over to our place to borrow something and when I asked him if he wanted a beer he said "You know I'm only 20 right?" Like wouldn't that make you want a beer even more? Does this look like a frickin' bar to you? What are you a cop or something? Relax, dude. That's kind of what this was like. Or maybe it's like Monday night's game when I was walking across the bridge, drunk, celebrating a Brewers win and trying to get a "YES!" chant started. Nobody wanted to do it. They were all content to just walk across the bridge quietly, talking amongst themselves. I don't get it. The Brewers won. We should celebrate and chanting "YES!" is really fun! Really. Go ahead, try it. I'll wait here.

(still waiting)

That's how it is for some people though. They might be afraid of ruining their blog's twitter's "integrity" (kill yourself) or maybe they have such low self esteem that they are worried John Axford will reply to them and tell them they are dumb for saying that (he won't.) Who knows. Or maybe people just thought MY idea was stupid which is totally missing the point. It is stupid, but the point is: just stop thinking about everything so much and be nice. People tweet mean things at John Axford and if you don't like that you should tweet something nice at him to overcome that. It's only 140 characters, it won't kill you.

With that little rant over I want to thank all of you who did participate. I now present to you a few of my favorites. Continue reading →

The Brewers are awesome. Let’s have a contest.

All around the world Brewers fans are waking up on a Monday feeling good. Feeling confident, cocky and cool because the Brewers are the only team in the 2011 playoffs to hold a 2-0 lead over their opponent. The only team with the potential to sweep. Just writing that makes me want to say stupid things like "HOT DOG!" I don't know about you, but I am feeling GREAT this morning. This is so fun. Didn't I tell you? Didn't I?

Winning is something that puts me in a giving mood (not the baby making kind of giving mood though) and I feel like it's about time we had a contest. We haven't had one in a long time.

Here's what we're going to be giving away.

  • (1) EA Sports game of your choice on the system of your choice from Origin.com
  • (1) t-shirt of your choice from Forward Fabrics.
  • MYSTERY PRIZE that I will find in the garage and mail to you..

Not bad, right?

Now here's what you have to do to win:

We will select our favorites and then put them up to a vote. Submission deadline is Thursday.

SUBMISSIONS NOW CLOSED! THANK YOU!

NINE!

Weekend Preview: The battle for the NL Central starts tonight!

POO-HOLES GET IT?!? LOLOMGROFL

Hey, it's Friday and it's the first week of the season what better way to kick off the weekend against our hated rivals from St. Louis. Much is made about the Brewers/Cubs, but honestly I think a lot of that is Packer fans trying to recreate their animosity for the Bears. The Cubs, as a team, have never done anything bad enough for true hate. The Cardinals on the other hand have given us a really good reason to hate them, they beat us in our one and only World Series. Sure, I was like 10 months old at that time but still. Screw those guys.

I won't be going to any games this weekend so I won't get a chance to try and have sex in the bathroom. At least in Miller Park, that is. (Hey yoooo!) We're slowly but surely getting back into the swing of things here and next week should be bursting with more of the crude, semi-sexist, semi-Brewers related content that you've grown to love. Until then follow us on twitter and facebook. We'll see you Monday.

Twitter talks: Doug Davis

Sometimes I like to check out twitter during a Brewers game. Yesterday I decided to check it out during the Brewers/Rockies game.

bryantmetzger Fact: Doug Davis pitches better when he has cancer. And by better I mean very very average.

Don’t Hate the Corey, Hate The Game

There were a lot of different reactions to the results of Corey Hart's arbitration hearing. Some were happy, some were mad, some people went to see The Blind Side with their family to celebrate (okay, that was probably only Corey himself) and others didn't really care. When the news first broke we wrote on our twitter "Its good to see the arbitration process is as broken as the rest of baseball's salary issues." and then "It's not that I don't like Corey or think he doesn't deserve it. I just dislike the notion of getting worse and getting paid more." The thing is he was going to be getting a raise no matter who won, so there is really no need to get upset about it. Whether he "deserves" it or not, he was going to get over four million dollars. I don't see why I should be upset that he's going to get an extra $600k or whatever it is. It's not like that $600k difference is going to stop us from doing much of anything (and if it stops us from signing Corey Patterson to a minor league deal, even better). The thing is, this is a silly thing to get upset about. It'd be like a guy who blogs about pizza getting upset over spending Valentine's Day alone. Corey Hart was going to be on the 2010 Brewers either way. That small salary boost shouldn't make a difference in the way you feel about him. Corey Hart is apparently worried about that though, saying as much to Brew Beat and I have to say he pretty much nails it. Continue reading →
